Book of the week – Mark
October 1, 2007
We really enjoyed going through Matthew together last week. It felt so good to be studying the same thing. It was nice to be able to learn together and let the teachings and life of Jesus renew our minds and change our thinking.
This week we are going to be reading Mark. This gospel is usually the first book translated, whenever the Bible is translated into a new language. It is shorter than the other gospels, and shares the life of Jesus, which is foundational to our faith. So as you are reading, think about the thousands of people who read these same words, in their own language, for the very first time, and whose lives were changed forever as they learned of the amazing One called Jesus.
If you wanted to make it through Mark twice this week, you would only need to read 5 chapters a day. Maybe over dinner? Maybe on your lunch break? It will amaze you how much the word will apply to your life and change your paradigms when you start pouring it into your thinking.
I hope you guys are blessed this week, and as always, feel free to share things that stand out to you on this blog.
Be blessed!
