Trembling Truth

January 14, 2008

This past week, or month really, we have felt like we were in a bit of a fog. Life, business, circumstances…but also something more than that. Something deeper. It was as if the eyes of our spirits were peering through some sort of mist or grime in the air.

Today, it has lifted.

We were listening to a sermon by Kris Valatton this morning, called Spirit Wars. It was amazing and spoke so directly to what we have been facing. We were in the midst of a battle. The battle we all face, when we have the courage, the vision, and the audacity to actually begin walking in the things God has called us into. This got me to thinking.

Wouldn’t it be absolutely amazing, if we actually lived like we matter to God? As if what we do, how we live, what we think about, and what we say, matters. Not just in the way we have mostly thought about such things, in terms of judgement and the amount of times a day we screw up. But what about the times we don’t? What about the times we say the right thing, at the right time? What about when we are standing exactly where we are supposed to be standing, and praying exactly what we are supposed to be praying?

That matters!

We matter!

The enemy does not fight us, try to scare us into a corner, and into a fearful paralyzed state, because we are insignificant. he does it because we are important! If God has put something on your heart, big or small, it is important! God does not ramble on and waste words like we do. He chooses each word carefully and on purpose. Whatever He has spoken to you, He meant it.

About three months ago, the Lord drove this home to me in an encounter.

I woke up on a Saturday morning, in a bit of a sleepy haze, and heard the Father’s voice speaking……..no declaring…….this phrase.

“I say what I mean, and I mean what I say.”

I sat up in bed. And I began to hear it louder.

“I say what I mean, and I mean what I say!”

It grew louder each time He spoke, until I could literally feel it rattling within me.

“I SAY WHAT I MEAN, AND I MEAN WHAT I SAY!”

I shouted in my heart. “OK!”

Then He grew quiet, but very firm.

“I WILL do everything I have promised you, don’t let anyone, EVER, tell you otherwise. I say what I mean, and I mean what I say.”

I trembled….and then felt a joy rising in my heart.

God means what He says! He really means it! When He says that He loves me, He actually means that He loves me! When He says He has called me to change a city, He actually means He is going to change the city through me! When He says that He will provide for me, He is actually going to provide for me! God is real, and His words are the strongest substance on earth. He set the stars in the heavens with His words! He created the heavens and the earth with His words! He calmed the raging seas with His words! he made you and me with His words!

He means what He says!

If you have been doubting or wavering on a promise from the Lord, I pray that this word will penetrate your heart today.

You matter. God chose you on purpose. He called you loved. He called you righteous. He called you beautiful. He called you worthy to stand before Him. He called you chosen.

He means what He says.
